Boca Raton, FL, police want consumers to protect themselves and their belongings this Christmas. Lock your valuables in the trunk of your car, out of sight of would-be robbers. Don't leave house doors or window ajar with gifts clearly visible within.
But getting the public's attention in the past has proven really challenging. Not so this Christmas!
The city's public safety commercials for the 2014 holiday season are sure to catch your attention. Pint sized police officers in "Power Wheels" police cruisers chase down pint sized thieves lifting Christmas packages from unlocked consumers' vehicles, then bungle little burglars trying to make off with families' Christmas gifts through an open kitchen window or door.
Kid cops and bite-sized burglars--well, kids have a way of grabbing our attention. The commercials have proven to be a "cute" medium for a serious message. "The reaction has been amazing," a Boca Raton police spokesman told WPBF.
It's not the first time Boca police have used kids in their public safety commercials. They tried it last Halloween and got an equally good response.

The Christmas message is compelling on every level. At the center of that message is a manger which cradles a tiny babe. What a way for God to grab our attention! But don't be fooled by the "cuteness" or "quaintness" of the imagery. The child in that manger has a serious message to communicate to the whole world. As the God of the Universe, He condescended to bring heaven to earth and peace between God and man.
To avoid the robbers and thieves who would steal your peace and leave you spiritually bankrupt this holiday season, listen to the message of the baby in the manger.
"The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them" (Isaiah 11:6).
"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests" (Luke 2:14).
